Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation is a scientific health discipline that provides solutions to functional impairments arising from congenital or acquired health conditions and aims to enable individuals to participate in daily life activities independently and effectively. The protection, improvement, and restoration of movement and function constitute the foundation of the physiotherapy profession.
Physiotherapists are healthcare professionals who evaluate individuals diagnosed by specialist physicians using physiotherapy-specific assessment methods and who plan and implement individualized rehabilitation programs. In addition, they offer evidence-based exercise and education programs aimed at preventing injuries, promoting health, and improving physical fitness in healthy individuals. Considering the increasing prevalence of sedentary lifestyles, chronic diseases, and an aging population, the role of physiotherapists within the healthcare system is becoming increasingly significant.
As the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Istanbul Aydın University, we aim to provide our students with a science-based, practice-oriented education aligned with national and international standards. Our four-year undergraduate curriculum consists of basic sciences, clinical sciences, professional courses, elective courses, and clinical practice, enabling students to integrate theoretical knowledge with clinical experience. Clinical placements and summer internships support the development of students’ professional competencies from the early stages of their education.
The primary goal of our department is to educate physiotherapists who embrace lifelong learning, think critically, adopt evidence-based practice, adhere to ethical values, and demonstrate a strong sense of social responsibility. Students are actively encouraged to participate in scientific activities, engage in research processes, and develop socially and culturally alongside their academic education.
