Message from the Head of the Program

The Undergraduate Psychology (Turkish) Program is a four-year program consisting of eight semesters, each requiring the completion of 30 ECTS credits, for a total of 240 ECTS credits. The primary aim of the program is to provide students with a strong theoretical foundation in psychology, to develop scientific thinking skills, and to offer an application-oriented perspective. In this context, the program seeks to enable students to integrate scientific knowledge with practical experience while adopting a multidisciplinary approach to individual and social responsibilities.

Psychology is a broad field that examines cognitive processes as well as behavioral processes at the individual and group levels. Accordingly, the program offers both theoretical and applied courses across a wide range of subfields, including sociocultural psychology, developmental psychology, forensic psychology, personality theories, psychopathology, and the relationship between the central nervous system and behavior. This diversity allows students to comprehend the multifaceted nature of psychology and to develop an interdisciplinary perspective.

The structure of the program places a strong emphasis on research methods and methodology in psychology, while also incorporating contributions from the social sciences. Through this approach, students acquire not only core theoretical knowledge and skills but also competencies in conducting scientific research, data analysis, and critical thinking. The program is designed to prepare students for both academic careers and professional roles in various employment settings.

The fundamental objective of the department is to educate qualified psychologists who possess a solid understanding of the basic theoretical approaches and subfields of psychology, value research and development, adhere to ethical principles, embrace lifelong learning, and are capable of responding to the evolving needs of individuals and society.
