All infrastructure and equipment support for the Department of Arabic Translation and Interpreting is provided by the Board of Trustees. The university demonstrates a strong commitment to equipping its facilities with advanced and contemporary infrastructure. Opportunities for easy access to information and communication are available not only to students but also to academic and administrative staff.
The Interpreting Laboratory belonging to the School of Foreign Languages is located in Block E, Room 3303. Designed to accommodate interpreting courses such as Consecutive Interpreting, Note-Taking Techniques, Sight Translation, and Simultaneous Interpreting for the Translation and Interpreting (Arabic, English, Russian) departments and Applied Translation (English, Spanish, Russian) programs, the laboratory features a 25-person student unit and three fully equipped simultaneous interpreting booths, each capable of accommodating two students. These booths are equipped in accordance with the principles of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) and the Conference Interpreters Association of Turkey (TKTD).
Media tools such as video, TV, and CD players are available in the laboratory, providing students the opportunity to translate from both visual and audio sources. Additionally, each booth is equipped with an LCD monitor, and images are projected onto a screen or computer monitor, simulating professional interpreting booths. Thus, students can perform both consecutive and simultaneous interpreting from the projected texts. Furthermore, our academic staff and students can follow the most up-to-date videos and perform translations using the state-of-the-art equipment available in our laboratory.
The university provides a central Internet service with a bandwidth of 500 Mbps, supported by a redundant wireless system that automatically activates in the event of a wired system failure. The university hosts 177 virtual servers running on 52 physical servers, with a total data storage capacity of 100 TB.
The university's telephone infrastructure has completely transitioned from a hybrid (analog + IP) structure to a full IP telephony structure.
Audio, visual, and computer support required in the university's education system is provided entirely by digital podiums designed by our university. In classrooms, instructors use the touch screens on the digital podiums as smart boards, and audio-visually supported educational materials are utilized thanks to the podium's built-in computer. Furthermore, instructors can share prepared documents with students via this system and perform operations such as attendance and surveys online.
All students are provided with unlimited personal email addresses to utilize email services throughout their education. Additionally, personal web page opportunities are provided to our staff and students via our website, www.aydin.edu.tr, which is actively updated and serves in both Turkish and English.
