As one of the most widely spoken and influential languages in the world, Arabic is highly sought after in numerous sectors such as media, law, business administration, logistics, and publishing, where institutions increasingly require highly qualified translators. The demand for professionals proficient in both Turkish and Arabic continues to rise, particularly in companies conducting international business and in the leading translation agencies in our country. The core mission of the program is to train translators who possess strong language awareness, view translation not merely as a linguistic activity but as a form of intercultural communication, have advanced proficiency in both Turkish and Arabic and their respective cultures, and acquire substantial knowledge of translation techniques, practices, and theories. Additionally, students gain familiarity with terminology and field knowledge from various disciplines and gain practical experience in both written and oral translation. By adopting this mission, our department continues to contribute to our country.
The aim of the Department of Arabic Translation and Interpreting is to address the increasing communicative needs emerging in today’s rapidly changing and developing world—particularly shaped by the dynamic relations between Turkey and Arab countries—and to help meet the growing demand for qualified professionals in this field. With strong historical ties forming the foundation of relations between the two societies, the program aims to contribute to the development of stable political, commercial, cultural, and scientific connections.
Graduates of the Arabic Translation and Interpreting Department are employed across a wide range of fields, including ministries and public institutions, undersecretariats, the Turkish Armed Forces, translation companies, publishing houses, engineering and architecture firms, foreign trade companies, private organizations, tourism agencies and businesses operating in tourism, finance, logistics, banks, radio and communication, media, publishing, translation, copywriting, editing, news agencies, embassies, and foreign representative offices. Additionally, graduates may pursue academic careers and serve as faculty members in various Arabic programs at universities.
