The general guidelines for the recognition of prior learning, applicable to all programs and included under institutional information, have been established in general terms. There are no program-specific regulations regarding prior learning for the Visual Communication Design Program.

The current admission procedures for education, which include both formal and non-formal learning, are still in the early stages of development in Turkey, and there is no comprehensive and adequate legal framework at the national level on this matter. However, within the framework of institutional autonomy, certain institutional practices exist at the institutional level to grant credits that exempt students from certain program requirements based on RPL principles. In these studies, which are conducted at a particularly comprehensive level, students are subjected to an examination prior to university admission in areas such as foreign language proficiency and computer literacy, and those deemed successful at a certain level by the program they are accepted into are exempted from certain parts of the curriculum. Additionally, RPL is also applicable to students who wish to transfer horizontally to another institution that is at an equivalent or higher level in the field they study, including institutions abroad. 

In such cases, students may be exempted from courses that are identical to or similar to those they previously took and successfully completed, upon approval by the program's adaptation committee. Similar admission procedures are extensively used at our university.  The general admission conditions for such practices are outlined in the relevant sections of our Education and Examination Regulations, Regulations and Guidelines Regarding Graduate Programs, and Regulations Regarding Transfer Students.
