Message from the Head of Department

In today’s world, where English is recognized as the global lingua franca, there is a growing need for highly competent translators in many fields such as media, law, business, logistics, and publishing. The demand for professionals proficient in both Turkish and English is increasing particularly in companies engaged in international business and in prominent translation agencies in our country. The mission of the program is to educate translators who possess strong language awareness, who perceive translation not merely as a linguistic activity but as an act of intercultural communication, who have mastery of both Turkish and English as well as their cultural contexts, and who gain practical experience in written and oral translation by learning translation techniques, practices, and theories along with discipline-specific terminology from various fields. The program also aims to train translators capable of working with an additional foreign language beyond English.
