Admission, Recognition & Transfers

Horizontal and vertical transfer procedures related to our department are carried out in accordance with the provisions below:
Horizontal Transfer Article 18 – (1) Student admissions and registrations through horizontal transfer from associate and undergraduate programs of domestic, international, and intra-university higher education institutions to the University’s associate and undergraduate departments/programs are carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation. a) For students transferring horizontally to the same department or program, the maximum duration of study is calculated by taking into account the year in which the student was first enrolled in the higher education institution from which they transferred. b) For students transferring horizontally to a different department or program, the maximum duration of study is calculated starting from the year of enrollment at our University, without taking into account the time spent at the previous higher education institution.(2) A student who transfers horizontally or vertically is exempted, by a decision of the relevant administrative board, from courses previously taken at their former university that are deemed equivalent to courses in the program to which they transfer. The grades obtained in these courses are recorded exactly as they are in the equivalent courses (under the designations Transfer Compulsory – TZ, Transfer Elective – TS), shown on the transcript, and included in the calculation of the cumulative grade point average.

Vertical TransferArticle 19 – (1) The adaptation (intibak) procedures of students placed in the University’s undergraduate programs through vertical transfer are carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation. (2) Courses taken during associate degree education that are deemed equivalent are considered exempt by a decision of the relevant administrative board. Based on the courses the student is required to take, the semester to which the student is adapted is determined, and the student is registered in the program accordingly. For the undergraduate courses from which these students are exempted, the letter grades obtained in the relevant associate degree courses are assigned (under the designations Transfer Compulsory – TZ, Transfer Elective – TS). The weighted grade point average of a student transferring vertically is calculated based on the courses taken during the associate degree program that are adapted to the undergraduate program and the courses taken during undergraduate education. (3) In programs taught in a foreign language and programs with compulsory foreign language preparatory classes, students must pass the foreign language exemption exam administered by the University or attend and successfully complete the foreign language preparatory class, even if they have previously completed and passed a preparatory program. These students are subject to the relevant legislation during the foreign language preparatory class and undergraduate education. Students transferring vertically continue their education in accordance with the provisions of Article 44 of Law No. 2547. (4) The weighted cumulative grade point averages of students placed in undergraduate programs through vertical transfer are calculated based on the undergraduate courses adapted from the associate degree program and the courses taken during undergraduate education.
