(Horizontal Transfer
Students who wish to transfer horizontally from another higher education institution to Istanbul Aydın University’s Radio, Television and Cinema Undergraduate Program may apply in accordance with the procedures and principles determined by the university. Horizontal transfer quotas and application calendars are announced by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), and students apply to the relevant program within these quotas. Applications must be submitted to the University’s Horizontal Transfer Commission together with the required documents; applications by post or e-mail are not accepted. In addition, the applicant’s central placement score for the year of admission must be equal to or higher than the base score of the target program for that year. Courses and credits previously completed by the student may be evaluated based on content, and adaptation/equivalency (credit transfer) procedures may be carried out accordingly.
Vertical Transfer
For associate degree graduates, the opportunity to transfer vertically from different institutions or from programs related to radio, television, and cinema is implemented within the framework of the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) administered by YÖK. Candidates who have successfully completed an associate degree program may apply to the Radio, Television and Cinema Undergraduate Program using their DGS score. Courses and credits previously completed by students admitted through DGS may be adapted to the curriculum and credit exemptions may be granted in accordance with their relevance.
Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer
In accordance with Istanbul Aydın University’s Exemption and Adaptation Regulation, courses successfully completed by students who transfer horizontally or vertically at other higher education institutions are reviewed, and adaptation, exemption, or credit transfer is granted for courses deemed appropriate in terms of content. This process is carried out to recognize students’ prior learning and to prevent unnecessary repetition of coursework. The university also applies recognition of prior learning procedures for students who have studied abroad within the scope of Erasmus, Farabi, Mevlana, or other international exchange programs.
Recognition, Evaluation, and Procedures
• Horizontal and vertical transfer applications are submitted to the relevant university commissions and are accepted following an academic eligibility assessment.
• For accepted students, course contents are compared in terms of theoretical and practical workload, and credits for appropriate courses are recognized.
• Students may be required to take an exemption exam for recognized prior learning courses or may be granted direct exemption.
These principles ensure that the rights gained through different learning pathways are recognized in a fair and transparent manner and provide the necessary academic adaptation opportunities for students to continue their studies in the Radio, Television and Cinema Program.)
