Program Overview

The Istanbul Aydın University Social Work Bachelor's Program is based on a knowledge, skills, and values-based approach to social work as a practice-oriented profession and academic discipline that supports social change and development and aims to empower individuals and communities. The program offers a holistic and generalist educational approach that centers on individual-environment interaction, in line with the principles of human rights, social justice, and respect for diversity. The program's academic approach is built upon a structure that integrates theoretical knowledge with practice, adopts an interdisciplinary perspective, and encourages critical thinking. Students gain the professional skills to apply the planned intervention process of social work at the individual, group, family, and community levels, while undergoing an education supported by scientific research methods, ethical principles, and current professional literature. Social workers graduating from this program have the opportunity to work in a wide range of fields such as child, youth, family, health, elderly, disability, legal services, migration and refugee studies, poverty alleviation, community development, and social assistance. Graduates can find employment in public institutions, local governments, non-governmental organizations, national and international projects, and the private sector. The Social Work Department at Istanbul Aydın University offers its students a strong and versatile academic environment through international exchange programs, double major and minor opportunities, second foreign language training, postgraduate education opportunities, and honors programs for high academic achievement.
