Message from the Head of the Program

Sociology is the scientific discipline that investigates, evaluates, and seeks to understand the changes occurring within society. It is a field of study required by all professions, careers, and social statuses. Individuals perform their professional skills and act in accordance with their careers and statuses through interaction with other people. Sociological knowledge becomes essential precisely at this point. The Department of Sociology follows an educational program that primarily addresses this general need.

Secondly, the field of sociology provides students with competencies in minor programs, double major programs, and philosophy group courses within its curriculum. Our students voluntarily choose to pursue double majors or minors based on their own academic interests. However, the opportunity to qualify as a sociologist and as a Philosophy Group Teacher is offered to all students in our program as an integrated package.

With the structured curriculum they receive, and if they wish, through the opportunities provided in double major, minor, and philosophy group courses, students of the Department of Sociology may obtain:

The title of Sociologist

The title of Philosophy Group Teacher

Social Work Specialist

Psychology Specialist

Press and Media Specialist

Business Administration Specialist

Public Administration Specialist

Certificates in International Relations Expertise.

In addition, through the English preparatory program provided by our university, students take foreign language courses for two semesters. All these opportunities are offered to students who enroll in the undergraduate program of our department.

The Department of Sociology implements a student-centered educational program in which digital technologies are widely used, and which aims to encourage students to study continuously, produce, and develop their report-writing skills.

A student who graduates from the Department of Sociology acquires a strong ability and habit of rigorous academic work. They develop skills in completing and presenting tasks on time. They learn how to write academic reports and gain the ability to analyze, interpret, and generate new ideas concerning issues discussed in the public sphere.

The Department of Sociology also offers a master's program. In the 2022 academic year, nearly 30 graduate students were enrolled in the master’s program. These students conduct field research under the supervision of our faculty members and prepare scientific theses and academic articles.

We have a dedicated academic staff committed to enhancing the professional satisfaction of our students. In both private and official academic matters, all our faculty members provide advisory support at designated times throughout the week.

We wish our students a successful academic term.
