The Turkish Language and Literature Program is structured around six major academic divisions: Old Turkic Language, Modern Turkish Language, Old Turkish Literature, Modern Turkish Literature, Turkish Folk Literature, and Contemporary Turkic Dialects and Literatures. These academic divisions provide instruction in both historical and contemporary alphabets used by Turkic communities and offer comprehensive coverage of Turkish language, literature, and culture across a broad geographical and historical spectrum. The academic staff of the department is composed of experienced scholars who are well recognized in their respective fields. Through the program, students acquire in-depth knowledge of the Turkish language, literature, and culture in all their historical phases and geographical manifestations. They develop the ability to analyze linguistic and literary texts by employing modern analytical and critical methodologies and are educated as individuals with a high level of proficiency in Turkish. Equipped with strong linguistic and cultural competence, graduates are able to distinguish themselves in various professional fields and maintain their cultural identity within a globalized world. Students who pursue careers in teaching, academia, and the media and publishing sectors are trained to meet the needs of both their country and the contemporary world.
