Program Overview

The Bachelor's Program in Turkish Language and Literature is an academic program designed to introduce and teach the Turkish language and literature through a comprehensive approach that encompasses their historical development, geographical distribution, and cultural context. The program aims to educate students who possess a solid theoretical background in the field, are capable of analyzing and interpreting the structural features of the Turkish language as well as the oral and written works of Turkish literature from both historical and contemporary periods by employing modern research methodologies, and who have developed critical and analytical perspectives. In this context, the program seeks to equip students with scientific, interpretive, and pedagogical competencies that enable them to convey knowledge of Turkish language and literature to individuals at different educational levels.

 

The program is conducted at the undergraduate level over a four-year (eight-semester) period within the Faculty of Letters or Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and the language of instruction is Turkish. Graduates of the program may pursue careers as teachers in public and private educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, work in media and publishing sectors as content writers or editors, and be employed in cultural institutions, libraries, museums, and archives. In addition, graduates may work in domestic and international educational and cultural organizations, particularly Yunus Emre Institutes, and may pursue academic careers by continuing their studies in master's and doctoral programs.
