The Department of English Language and Literature at Istanbul Aydın University, established in 2007, offers education at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, guided by an interdisciplinary educational approach and supported by a strong academic staff. With its multicultural structure that brings together both Turkish and international students, the department aims to approach the English language, literature, and culture from a critical and holistic perspective.

The curriculum provides a broad framework encompassing British and American literature, as well as comparative literature, literary theory and criticism, linguistics, and cultural studies. In addition to literary traditions ranging from the Renaissance to the Postmodern period, genres such as Gothic, science fiction, and dystopian literature are examined alongside contemporary research areas including popular culture, gender studies, ethnic minority studies, and postcolonial studies. By encouraging interdisciplinary approaches, the department seeks to develop students' critical thinking, analytical skills, and academic writing abilities.

The educational process extends beyond traditional lectures and is supported by in-class discussions, research-based projects, and academic presentations. Assessment is conducted through a multidimensional approach that evaluates not only students' knowledge but also their analytical and interpretative competencies. In addition, students are offered opportunities for minor and double major programs, as well as international exchange programs such as Erasmus.

The vision of the department is to educate graduates not only as individuals with strong academic foundations, but also as globally minded individuals with high intercultural awareness who are capable of assuming active roles across diverse sectors.
