The English Language and Literature Program offers a comprehensive academic framework that examines the English language, literature, and culture through historical, theoretical, and critical perspectives. The program adopts an interdisciplinary approach that considers literary texts not only as aesthetic products but also within their social, cultural, and historical contexts.
The curriculum covers various periods and genres of British and American literature, and is supported by fields such as comparative literature, literary theory and criticism, linguistics, and cultural studies. Contemporary areas of research, including popular culture, gender studies, ethnic minority literatures, and postcolonial studies, constitute distinctive aspects of the program. In this way, students are enabled to relate classical literary knowledge to current academic debates.
The program prioritizes the development of critical thinking, academic reading and writing, research, and presentation skills. Courses are designed to encourage active student participation through interactive classroom discussions, project- and research-based activities. In addition, opportunities for minor and double major programs, as well as international exchange programs, aim to broaden students' academic and cultural horizons.
