Admission, Recognition & Transfers

Pursuant to the Istanbul Aydın University Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education, Teaching, and Examination Regulations published in the Official Gazette dated 3 July 2023 and numbered 32237, the relevant section entitled “Horizontal Transfer, Vertical Transfer, and Student Exchange” is presented below:

Horizontal Transfer
Students who wish to transfer to Istanbul Aydın University from another higher education institution through horizontal transfer to the Television Reporting and Programming Undergraduate Program may apply in accordance with the procedures and principles determined by the University. Horizontal transfer quotas and application calendars are announced by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), and students may apply to the relevant program within these quotas. Applications must be submitted to the University’s Horizontal Transfer Commission together with the required documentation; applications submitted by post or e-mail are not accepted. In addition, the applicant’s central placement score for the year of admission must be equal to or higher than the base score of the program to which transfer is sought. Courses and credits previously completed by the student may be evaluated based on content, and course adaptation/equivalency procedures may be carried out accordingly.

Vertical Transfer
For associate degree graduates, opportunities for vertical transfer from programs related to radio, television, and journalism or similar fields are implemented within the framework of the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS)administered by YÖK. Candidates who have successfully completed an associate degree program may apply to the Television Reporting and Programming Program using their DGS scores. Courses and credits previously completed by students admitted through DGS are evaluated for compatibility with the curriculum, and course exemptions and credit transfers may be granted where appropriate.

Adaptation and Recognition of Prior Learning
In accordance with Istanbul Aydın University’s Exemption and Adaptation Directive, courses successfully completed by students transferring through horizontal or vertical transfer at other higher education institutions are reviewed, and adaptation, exemption, or credit transfer decisions are made for courses deemed equivalent in content. This process is implemented to recognize students’ prior learning and to prevent unnecessary repetition of coursework. The University also applies recognition of prior learning procedures for students who have studied abroad within the scope of Erasmus, Farabi, Mevlana, or other international exchange programs.

Recognition, Evaluation, and Procedures
Horizontal and vertical transfer applications are submitted to the relevant university commissions and are accepted following an academic eligibility evaluation.
For admitted students, course contents are compared in terms of theoretical and practical workload, and credits for courses deemed equivalent are recognized.
Students may be required to take exemption examinations for courses recognized as prior learning or may be granted direct course exemptions.
These principles ensure that rights acquired through different learning pathways are recognized in a fair and transparent manner and provide the necessary academic adaptation opportunities for students to continue their studies in the Television Reporting and Programming  Program.
